# Physical Damage

Physical Damage insurance provides coverage for your company’s own vehicles and trailers in the event of collisions, fire, vandalism, or theft. This policy protects your investment in owned or leased equipment and is often required by lenders and lease agreements.

***

### What It Covers

* **Collision Damage** – Damage from crashes or impact
* **Fire or Explosion** – Engine or trailer fires, fuel-related incidents
* **Vandalism** – Graffiti, glass breakage, tampering
* **Theft** – Stolen truck, trailer, or attached equipment

> 🛻 This policy does *not* cover cargo or third-party injury — see Cargo or Liability policies for those.

***

### When It’s Required

* For **leased, rented, or financed** trucks and trailers
* Recommended for **owned company equipment**
* Required by lenders and some broker compliance programs

***

### Required Fields

When adding or editing a Physical Damage policy, you must complete:

* **Policy Type**: Pre-selected as *Physical Damage*
* **Policy Number**
* **Insurance Provider**
* **Coverage Limit** (in USD)
* **Start Date**
* **Expiration Date**
* **Provider Rating** (A–F scale)
* **Assigned Unit(s)**: Truck and/or Trailer
* **Certificate Upload** (PDF or image)

***

### Visual Cues

* ✅ **Active**: Green label with asset assignment
* ⚠️ **Expired**: Red tag, disables equipment visibility
* 📍 **Linked Unit**: Clearly shown on truck/trailer details

* Required fields must be completed to save
* Document must be uploaded before dispatch visibility is granted

### Notes

* Each truck or trailer should have only one active Physical Damage policy
* Expired policies will flag the asset and may restrict load assignment
* Updating a policy immediately reflects in the linked unit’s profile

> ✅ Tip: Use the unit overview to quickly check if all owned equipment is covered under valid Physical Damage insurance.
