# Trailer Interchange

Trailer Interchange insurance provides physical damage coverage for trailers that your company does not own but is temporarily responsible for under an interchange agreement. It’s often required when pulling broker- or customer-owned trailers.

***

### What It Covers

* **Collision or Damage** – While trailer is in your possession
* **Fire or Theft** – Loss due to incidents while under interchange control
* **Vandalism** – Graffiti, tampering, glass or panel damage

> 🛠️ Trailer Interchange does *not* cover cargo or liability — it's focused on **physical damage** to the trailer itself.

***

### When It’s Required

* When using **borrowed trailers** under a signed interchange agreement
* Required by brokers, customers, and equipment leasing platforms
* Needed anytime your trucks haul **non-owned trailers**

***

### Required Fields

When creating or editing a Trailer Interchange policy, you must include:

* **Policy Type**: Pre-selected as *Trailer Interchange*
* **Policy Number**
* **Insurance Provider**
* **Coverage Limit** (USD)
* **Start Date**
* **Expiration Date**
* **Provider Rating** (A–F scale)
* **Assigned Trailer Unit** (required)
* **Certificate Upload** (PDF or image)

***

### Visual Cues

* ✅ **Active**: Shown in green with trailer assignment
* ⚠️ **Expired**: Highlighted in red on the trailer profile

### Notes

* Only one active Trailer Interchange policy should be linked to each trailer
* Missing or expired interchange coverage may prevent dispatch assignment
* Admins can renew or update policies through the insurance module at any time

> ✅ Tip: Review trailer policies regularly to ensure all leased or borrowed equipment is covered during active interchange periods.
